TRANSPORTATION
South
Orange is a short 25
minute train ride from
Penn Station in New York.
The South Orange train
station is at the center
of town at the corner
of Sloan Street and South
Orange Avenue. Trains
run regularly both weedays
and weekends. For those who prefer
to drive, South Orange
has easy access to the
Garden State Parkway,
the NJ Turnpike, and Route 78.
South Orange is also
only 20 minutes to the
Newark International
Airport.

South Orange's population is now approximately 16,964 according to the 2000 census.

South Orange Village Information
South Orange Village operates under the Village Charter
form
of government. The Village President is South Orange's equivalent to a mayor and governing authority is given to an elected Board of Trustees. Each member serves a four year term without remuneration. The Board of Trustees is divided into six standing committees. Each trustee is
responsible for a chairmanship of one committee and also serves as a member of
two other committees for a two-year term. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of the month.
