South Orange Local Schools Information
South Orange shares a quality school system with Maplewood. They all have a reputation for academic excellence. In South Orange, there are three elementary schools, one middle school, and high school aged students go to Columbia High School in Maplewood. Marshall Elementary School holds grades K-2; South Mountain Elementary Annex holds grades K-1; and South Mountain Elementary holds grades 2-5.
Columbia High School has consistently met the Middle States Association’s standards and is considered an excellent school. This high school has committed itself to focusing on improving student performance and continually reviewing progress. Columbia offers advanced placement, college prep and vocational
courses, as well as classes in filmmaking and journalism. Columbia High School will also be participating in peer review and external validation by a Validation Team appointed by the Middle States Association.
South Orange is also the home of Seton Hall University, located on 400 South Orange Avenue. Seton Hall is a major Catholic university, growing to more than 10,000 students from 40 U.S. states and territories, and dozens of countries. It's mission is to prepare students to be servant leaders who will make a difference in the world.
